Know when to pull back the bow

We’ve all been there. A deer is approaching our stand and we must decide when to draw our bow in preparation for taking a shot.

 Deciding when to draw is tricky. Draw too soon and you won’t be able to hold the bow back long enough. Draw at the wrong time and you could be spotted by the deer.

 A bow is a cumbersome thing to shoot. You’ve got to stick it out at arm’s length and then draw the bowstring back to your anchor point. All that unwieldy movement can alert wary game.

Shoot your Release More Accurately

Advice from Nearly 50 Years of Bowhunting Experience...

It’s a huge equipment mistake. And yet I see it all the time.

Most bowhunters today prefer an index-finger release that attaches to their wrist with a buckle or Velcro strap. Such releases are comfortable, easy to use and accurate. The best are also adjustable in length. I think it’s a minor crime that most release manufacturers don’t fully explain in their instructions how and why release length should be carefully adjusted to custom fit each archer.
