The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word partner as “a member of a partnership especially in a business.” That’s pretty dry—not to mention, obvious.

For John Smithbaker, president and CEO of Brunton

Outdoor Group in Riverton, Wyoming, the word partner has a much deeper meaning.

“Here in Wyoming, ‘partner’ is a well-used term,” he explains. “It’s a very powerful word, and one that we take very seriously. ‘Partner’ in Wyoming is a stronger word than ‘friend’ because the level of commitment you have for a partner is very deep.”

The concept of partnership plays a huge role at Brunton Outdoor Group today. It’s a concept that defines how Brunton views its dealers and the thousands of consumers that have discovered Brunton’s premium line of optics, navigation, lighting, instruments and portable power products.

But more on that in a moment.

Brunton has a long history. A very long history. Founded in 1894 by D.W. Brunton, the company offered just one product for nearly 80 years. That product was the Pocket Transit.
