Even in the best of times, many businesses make the mistake of focusing too much on the present. Day-to-day minutiae can end up consuming too much time, keeping even the most conscientious business owner from thinking about tomorrow.
And in challenging economic times, the pressures of just surviving can make many business owners forget about the future entirely.
That’s not the case with Carbon Express, the flagship brand of Michigan-based Eastman International. A lifelong entrepreneur, Bob Eastman started his first business at the age of 12 when he opened a full-blown concession stand at a golf course. Four years later, Bob’s second business venture, selling bedroom slippers door to door, quickly expanded into two states. Bob soon found his calling in the archery industry. Bob’s passionate entrepreneurial spirit has thrived and continued to push him to actively seek innovative archery product ideas for more than four decades.
“I’ve learned that without new ideas, the growth stops,” Bob explains. “I’ve spent a good part of my adult life looking for new ideas, new challenges and new frontiers to push. Some of those new ideas and all that pushing for creative, better solutions have resulted in business successes. Others have simply expanded my life, made it more interesting, made me grow personally. In either case, life or business, it seems to me that ideas are the name of the game.”
